FAQ

What is Swiff?

It's an application to run old Flash games and animations directly on your Android devices. It has been evolving into an app to also enjoy J2ME games, Scratch games and Web games, all of them with the same features!

Does every game works?

Depends on what player you're using, Swiff offers to play Flash content with Ruffle and AwayFL out of the box, however, after Version 1.3 you can now play Flash content using the original Flash Player, which should make all games compatible!

Why was Swiff made?

I wanted to play A Koopa Revenge 2 on my AYN Thor, I tried some alternatives on Android, but most of them were full of ads, slow, and didn't play well with Android frontends, so i decided to build my own. If you wanna know more about me or Swiff, you can read this interview!

Will Swiff be Open Source?

I dunno, this is one of my best projects and I kinda wanna have control over it (I feel like it's my baby), if I decide to abandon the project for some reason I will 100% release the source code here, but for now I think it will stay closed source.

Who is that anime girl on the art?

That's Swiff-chan! The mascot of the app, she says hi. <img width="350" src="./assets/swiffchanhi.png"" />

Acknowledgement

  • Everyone who made the flash games! You guys made the childhood of a lot of people on the internet.
  • The Ruffle project and the AwayFL project for making Flash content playable again!
  • This app would'nt be possible without the Flashpoint Archive. We use their database to display and download all of the games in the app.
  • Also, huge shoutout to lnkd for helping me test the app prototypes, suggesting cool features and making the logo of the app.
  • And another shoudout to Anti for making some sound effects for the app! For a full list of credits and licenses, please check the Licenses page in-app
